They are two main types of nucleic acids are DNA and RNA. As we all know DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid whereas RNA stands for Ribonucleic Acid. Both DNA and RNA are made up of nucleotides, each contain a five-carbon sugar backbone, a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base. DNA provides the code for the cell's activities, while RNA converts that code into proteins to hold out cellular functions. There is no mode of living organism without DNA or RNA.
